Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan reinstated and rotated echelon II city officials on Tuesday.

Anies said the rotations were aimed at speeding up and improving the city's services for Jakartans.

"[The rotation] is part of the dynamics of an organization that aims at improving its service. It is normal to always ensure such refreshment for the organization to grow," he said after inaugurating the officials at City Hall, as quoted by kompas.com.

The State Civilian Bureaucracy Commission recommended that Anies reinstate eight out of the 16 civil servants he had fired. The commission believed the administration had violated procedures and regulations in the demotions.

The 11 officials include former South Jakarta mayor Tri Kurniadi, who was dismissed in July and appointed as the secretary of the Greater Jakarta Coordinating Board.

Former Social Welfare Bureau head Adi Ariantara has now been appointed as the Cooperatives, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Trade Agency head.

Blessmiyanda was reinstated as the head of the Jakarta Goods and Services Procurement Agency. She was dismissed during the administration of former governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat.

Andri Yansyah now heads the Jakarta Manpower and Transmigration Agency, previously being the head of the Transportation Agency.

Three other officials inaugurated were deputy mayor of Central Jakarta, Irwandi; deputy mayor of North Jakarta, Ari Maulana Hakim; and deputy regent of the Thousand Islands, Junaedi.  (vla)
