Men’s doubles pair Hafiz Brilliansyah Prawiranegara and Dheva Anrimushti advanced to the quarterfinals after finishing atop Group D of the SU5 category (upper limb impairment) by securing three wins on Wednesday.

In their last match of the group stage on Wednesday, Hafizh and Dheva beat Japanese pair Gen Shogaki and Tetsuo Ora 21-6, 21-6.

After the match, Hafizh said he and his partner succeeded in handling court drift.

“We know where the drift goes. We can apply our strategy. We have faced them before so we understood their game,” Hafizh said.

Earlier in the day, top seeded mixed doubles pair in the SL3-SU5 (lower limb impairment) category Hary Susanto and Leani Ratri Oktila dominated their Chinese opponents Yuyang Gao and Huihui Ma 21-10, 21-11 in 18 minutes.

With the result, Hary and Leani won Group A, securing a spot in the quarterfinals.

Leani continued her run of good form in the same category in women’s doubles with partner Khalimatus Sadiyah Sukohandoko. They defeated Japan’s Noriko Ito and Akiko Sugino 21-9, 21-10 to advance to Thursday’s semifinals, where they will face Thai pair Nipada Seangsupa and Chanida Srinavakul.

Leani also fared well in the SL4 category in women’s singles, earning a convincing 21-11, 21-15 win against China’s Huihui Ma in her last Group A match.

She will face her women’s doubles teammate Khalimatus in the singles semifinal on Thursday.
