There were 38 reported cases of child malnutrition in Depok from January to October this year.
The head of the family health and nutrition unit at the Depok Health Agency, Eti Rohati, said some residents were reluctant to treat their malnourished children as they did not have enough money to take them to a Puskesmas.
“We’re facing difficulty in encouraging parents to take their children to a Puskesmas because of the economic issue […] They finally agreed to take their kids to Puskesmas after we bore the cost of trips,” Eti said on Wednesday as quoted by kompas.com.
Eti added that the agency actively monitored the recovery of malnourished children by visiting their houses every week. (cal)
