T

he administration of Bekasi in West Java began the trial operation of the Transpatriot bus service on Monday. Transpatriot, which is operated by regional-owned bus operator Mitra Patriot (PDMP), has nine buses operating on two routes with 21 stops.

The Transpatriot operates on a daily basis from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The first route stretches 14.7 kilometers from Bekasi Bus Terminal to Harapan Indah via Jl. MH Joyomartono, Jl. Cut Meutia, Jl. Ahmad Yani, Jl. Sudirman and Jl. Sultan Agung. There are 13 stops on this route, namely Kebon Raya, Bulak Kapal, BTC, Bekasi City Council, Unisma, Pekayon, Living Plaza, BCP, Patriot Stadium, Kranji, Alexindo and Sultan Agung.

The second route is 9.6 km from Harapan Indah to Bekasi Bus Terminal via Jl. Sultan Agung and Bekasi Station on Jl. Ir Juanda. There are eight bus stops on this route, namely Sultan Agung, Alexindo, Kranji Station, Grand Mall, Bekasi municipality office, Bekasi Junction and Jalan Baru.

PDMP spokesperson Iqbal Daus said the service would not charge passengers during the first week of the trial run. The company is still deliberating the fares.

“We’ll charge regular passengers and students differently. Tickets for students should be cheaper than the regular fares,” he said as quoted by kompas.com on Sunday, adding that the fares would not be higher than the Transjakarta bus rate, at Rp 3,500 (25 US cents). (vla)
