Python caught hiding under water pipe in North Jakarta

he heavy rain over the past few days in Jakarta have caused floods forcing yet more snakes into residential areas. A 3-meter python was caught in North Jakarta on Sunday night, after a resident reported the sighting to the North Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency.
“We received the report from one of our officers who was not on duty when he saw the snake,” said Fikri Naufal of the agency as quoted by tempo.co.
Soon after receiving the report, six workers from the fire and rescue agency were deployed to the location, which is near to the Marunda low-cost rental apartment complex, and caught the reptile, with the help of makeshift equipment, including a wooden pole. The snake was not easily caught as it hid under a water pipe.
No injuries were reported and the snake was brought to a North Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency post.
The finding is the latest discovery of a snake during this rainy season.
Previously, a 3.5-meter snake was caught in a residential area in Bekasi, West Java, after it bit a homeowner.
A 4-meter, 8-kilogram snake also made an appearance in West Jakarta on Tuesday purportedly after getting carried away by floodwaters. (fac)
