est Jakarta Police have questioned five eyewitnesses in connection with an explosion at a food court in Taman Anggrek Mall in West Jakarta on Wednesday that left six people injured.
“West Jakarta Police have questioned five eyewitnesses, including a technician and security officers,” Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono said on Thursday.
The police laboratory and forensics (Puslabfor) unit are also investigating the incident.
“It is currently under investigation,” he said, as quoted by kompas.com.
The investigation results will be used as a lesson-learned to prevent similar incidents in the future, Argo added.
The explosion occurred at a food counter at 10:20 a.m. on Wednesday. At 12:15 a.m. the Jakarta Police’s bomb squad, led by First Insp. Muji, investigated the area and confirmed a gas leak as the cause of the explosion.
Six people were injured and 40 food counters and two restaurants were damaged in the incident. The victims included both men and women and were aged between 29 and 44 years.
Police cordoned off the scene pending their investigation.(sau)
