Tax office spokesman Yoga Hestu Saksama said the figure was 15.7 percent higher than the number last year.
he Taxation Directorate General said that as of Monday morning 6.99 million taxpayers had filed their annual tax return forms (SPT).
Tax office spokesman Yoga Hestu Saksama said the figure was 15.7 percent higher than the number last year.
“If we look at those who filed their SPT by March 16, the number is 15.7 percent higher, nearly 1 million, than the corresponding period last year,” Hestu said as quoted by kontan.co.id on Monday.
However, he admitted the number was still less than half the target for this year, which was set at 15.5 million, or 85 percent of all 18.3 million of people with taxpayer numbers (NPWP).
He expressed confidence that more taxpayers would file their SPTs in late March before the deadline. “We see many of them want to file their reports in late March,” he added.
The tax office would assist taxpayers to file their SPTs by providing supervision for offices and in shopping malls and other public places, Hetu said, adding that some 4,700 volunteers would be deployed to help taxpayers file their SPT through e-filing. (bbn)
