man accused of murdering a family of four in Bekasi, West Java, is facing multiple charges that include premeditated murder and thievery.
Haris Simamora has been charged under Article 340 of the Criminal Code on murder and article 363 on thievery. He faces the death penalty if found guilty.
Haris allegedly murdered Daperum Nainggolan, 38, his wife Maya Boru Ambarita, 37, and their two children Sarah Boru Nainggolan, 9, and Arya Nainggolan, 7, on Nov. 13 last year. He also allegedly stole Rp 2 million (US$135), four mobile phones and a car.
“On Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018, at around 3 a.m., the defendant left the victims’ house carrying a crowbar and some of the victims’ belongings,” prosecutor Faris Rahman told the Bekasi District Court as reported by kompas.com.
The murders were allegedly motivated by revenge.
After court proceedings on Monday, some angry family members of the victims attacked Haris, hitting him on the head. (vla)
