he Soccer Association of Indonesia (PSSI) has appointed Gusti Randa as the new acting chief of the association, replacing Joko Driyono, who is currently being investigated for his alleged involvement in the destruction of evidence in a match-fixing related case.
Previously, Gusti, who was also named a commissioner of national league operator PT Liga Indonesia Baru recently, was a member of the association’s executive committee.
Gusti confirmed his appointment as the acting chief to journalists on Tuesday.
With the new role Gusti is burdened with two major tasks, namely organizing the association’s special meeting (KLB) and ensuring the kick-off of the country’s soccer league.
“Those two tasks are my priority after taking on this role,” he said, as quoted by bolasports.com.
“I have to make sure that Liga 1 [the top-tier league] is still on the right track since the time [to get the league started] is nearing,” he added.
During the association’s congress in Bali in January, it was decided that Liga 1 would start between May 1 and 8.
