Go-Jek expands services to Toba Samosir
GO-JEK has expanded its services to Balige, Toba Samosir (Tobasa) regency, North Sumatra, starting May 2.

T Aplikasi Karya Anak Bangsa, known as Go-Jek, has expanded its services - which include Go-Ride for motorcycle taxi services, Go-Send for delivery of goods and Go-Food for food delivery - to Balige, Toba Samosir (Tobasa) regency, North Sumatra, as of May 2.
The presence of Go-Jek in Balige is expected to boost the income of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the area.
Toba Samosir Regent Darwin Siagian warmly welcomed the presence of the ride-hailing app.
“The operation of Go-Jek in Balige has shown the progress of our town, as the technology services provided by GO-JEK improve the ease of doing business. Go-Jek has helped the government to empower the MSMEs here. It will also support the development of tourism in Toba Samosir as tourists can now easily navigate tourist locations in our area," he said in his remark, read by Toba Samosir Communications and Information Agency head Lalo Hartono Simanjuntak.
Go-Jek began its operation in North Sumatra by opening its services in Medan in 2015. The ride-hailing app is now available in the province’s cities of Binjai, Pematang Siantar, Padang Sidempuan, Tanjung Balai and Balige.
In Toba Samosir regency, Go-Jek serves the areas of Balige, Siborongborong, Laguboti, Porsea and Silangit airport.
In his written statement, Go-Jek regional vice president of Sumatra Erika Agustine said, "Go-Jek has a mission to provide the widest possible social benefits to millions of Indonesians. Through the operation of Go-Jek in Balige, we expect more MSMEs and micro entrepreneurs, such as driver partners in Balige, to be able to feel the benefits of technology, especially in helping the regional economy. This was part of our support for central and regional government programs in creating jobs while increasing the competitiveness of MSMEs in Indonesia, especially in Toba Samosir."
Arie Prasetyo, director of the Lake Toba Authority Implementation Agency (BPODT), said that Toba Samosir had many tourist attractions that had the potential to draw tourists to the area. The presence of Go-Jek can meet the supply-and-demand from both the consumers and service providers and in return can contribute to the economy.
The availability of Go-Jek services in the area is also expected to have a positive impact on the number of tourists as a result of the easier mobility to tourism attractions including the Sisingamangaraja XII Cemetery, T.B. Silalahi Center Museum and Lumban Bulbul Beach. (yan)
