n online ojek (motorcycle taxi) driver was killed and three others were injured in a multi-vehicle collision on Jl. Raya Muchtar in front of Telaga Golf Housing in Sawangan, Depok, West Java, on Tuesday.

The ojek driver, Dedi Prabudi, 50, was immediately rushed to Fatmawati Hospital in South Jakarta alongside two other injured victims, Evi Coryati, 56, and Sapta Firdiansyah, 20. A third victim, 54-year-old Andi Sunitanto, was taken to RSUD Depok General Hospital.

“The victim, Dedi, breathed for the last time after receiving medical treatment at Fatmawati Hospital,” Sawangan Police chief Comr. Suprasetyo said at the scene as quoted by kompas.com.

Dedi, an ojek driver from Tajur Halang district in Bogor, West Java, was riding with Evi before the accident happened. He died after suffering an injury to the head.

Suprasetyo said the two were hit by a Toyota Avanza driven by a 41-year-old identified only as JO, a resident of Bojongsari Lama in Depok. The accident happened as JO was driving from Depok toward Bojongsari.

In the middle of the trip, JO crashed into a motorcycle driven by Dedi. As a result, the car lost control, veering into the opposite lane where it hit two other motorcycles, driven by Sapta and Andi.

Suprasetyo said JO was at the Sawangan Police station as his case was being handled by the Depok Police traffic unit.

“[JO] has a heart disease. He admitted that he felt sick at that time and his eyes suddenly couldn’t see anything when driving. He eventually crashed into others although he confessed that he was not speeding,” the unit head, Comr. Sutomo, told The Jakarta Post on Wednesday.

Sutomo added that two of the victims were severely injured and in critical condition, while the third victim sustained minor injuries. (syk)
