alaysians must stand united against terrorism in response to a “declaration of war” video by the Islamic State on Malaysia.

Taking to social media, Malaysians responded to the news by calling on their fellow countrymen to protect the nation from the IS threat.

“There is no better time than NOW, for us to stand together as MALAYSIANS to protect our children. This is not about religion anymore,” said John Mtb.

Reader Diana Kek agreed with this statement, adding that Malaysians should realize the need to fight terrorism under the “flag of humanity”.

Taking to the Star Online’s Facebook page, Oh Kean Aik said that despite their differences, Malaysians would not hesitate when it comes to defending their homeland.

Daya Nandan concurred, saying: “It is time to rise up and hold our ground against these terrorists. Let our values of patriotism unite us all to protect our homeland for ourselves as well as future generations of Malaysians!”

G.P. Selven noted that it was sad to see children being manipulated at a tender age to serve the ambitions of terrorists.

“Yeah, I think parents who allow their children to be used by IS should be penalized under the law,” said Sarah Bakar.

“I pray for the safety of our nation and everyone and I do hope Malaysians don’t fall prey to the IS lies and deceits, living under delusions that they’re fighting for God and the truth,” said Amran Yahaya, who also called on Malaysians to wake up to the threat.
