View all search resultsAt least 89 cases of violence against journalists were recorded by the Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) in 2025, with police and military personnel identified among the top three perpetrators of such cases.
"So far 57 media workers have tested positive for COVID-19 through PCR [polymerase chain reaction] tests. We also found six people whose rapid test results were reactive,” AJI Surabaya head Miftah Faridl told The Jakarta Post on Monday.
AJI noted that most violence involving police officers happened during mass rallies after the presidential election result came out on May 20-21, at the Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) in Central Jakarta and during student protests against the planned revision of the Criminal Code (KUHP) on Sept. 23-30.
