View all search resultsPolice on Tuesday accelerated a probe into nightclub Burning Sun, which has been marred by allegations of sexual assault, the illicit filming of sex videos, drug use and corrupt ties with police, as ministers vowed a thorough investigation and due punishment.
The prosecution on Tuesday asked a Seoul court to issue an arrest warrant for Jung Joon-young, a singer-songwriter suspected of secretly filming sex videos and sharing them in online group chats, amid a widening probe into the scandal.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency said Monday that it would seek an arrest warrant for K-pop singer Jung Joon-young, 30, on suspicion of secretly recording and distributing sex videos. It would be the first arrest in a case that broke last week with a series of shocking revelations involving Seungri of Big Bang and a close group of his friends.
In recent weeks, Seungri’s name has appeared in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. He has been named a suspect in an investigation into the alleged soliciting of prostitutes and drug dealing at the Burning Sun club, which he controls.
With police zeroing in on K-pop star Seungri and his close celebrity friend Jung Joon-young for alleged sex bribery and the sharing of secretly filmed sex videos, Seoul police said Wednesday the two have been summoned for interrogation.
