Three Indonesian crew members aboard the quarantined Diamond Princess cruise ship anchored off the coast Japan have tested positive for COVID-19, the disease resulting from the novel coronavirus, Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi has confirmed.
“I obtained information yesterday that authorities had found another Indonesian crew member of a fishing vessel [that was crushed under the bridge]. We can confirm that three Indonesians died in the incident,” Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi told journalists on Thursday.
An official has admitted that the Law and Human Rights Ministry does not have a clear legal umbrella for reinstating the citizenship of Indonesians who have lost their nationality, however, the Citizenship Law holds to the basic principal that the country does not acknowledge statelessness.
