The names include the party’s chairman Kaesang Pangarep, who is also President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s youngest son; Jakarta acting governor Heru Budi Hartono; the PSI’s board of trustees’ deputy chairwoman Grace Natalie; the State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir; podcaster and celebrity Deddy Corbuzier; and former Jakarta governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama.
The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), the largest party in Jakarta, endorsed on Tuesday unsuccessful presidential candidate Anies Baswedan for another run in the November gubernatorial election in the city and named its former chairman Sohibul Iman as his running mate.
The November gubernatorial election in Jakarta will once again be a battle of political party-backed candidates after the poll agency declared the sole independent ticket – retired police general Dharma Pongrekun and running mate academician Kun Wardana – ineligible to run.

The Gerindra Party has been teasing the idea of pairing the nephew of party chairman and president-elect Prabowo Subianto, Budisatrio Djiwandono, with the youngest son of outgoing President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, Kaesang Pangarep, for the upcoming Jakarta regional election.
Analysts have noted that the former governors of two strategic provinces in Java, namely Jakarta and Central Java, still have the chance to enter the next presidential race in 2029 as long as they remain in the public spotlight.
