President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo expressed his condolences over the death of Hasyim Muzadi, former chairman of Indonesia’s largest Islamic organization, Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), from 1999 until 2004, on the sidelines of the President’s working visit in West Kalimantan on Thursday.
Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), Indonesia’s biggest Islamic organization, is of the opinion that making Indonesia a peaceful country with the world’s largest population of Muslims is more important than forcing it to adopt sharia (Islamic law), the organization’s leader has said.
