This concept emphasizes economic growth that does not harm the environment, preserves natural resources and ensures long-term social welfare. In addition, a sustainable economy strives to ensure that future generations can meet their needs. This idea aligns with achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) numbers four (quality education), eight (economic growth) and nine (industry, innovation and infrastructure).
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo called on Monday for unity among the countries of the Global South amid sluggish worldwide progress toward achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), saying before his African counterparts that Indonesia remained committed to furthering its economic cooperation with the continent.
While Jakarta continues to struggle in addressing perennial problems related to the limited green spaces in the city, its Thai counterpart has reached a milestone in adding more natural areas to Bangkok by bringing to life thousands of mini parks, a strategy that experts say can be adopted in the Indonesian capital.
