The first black box found on Wednesday was the cockpit voice recorder based on an early assessment, a Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) official told reporters. The recording material appeared to have survived the impact in relatively good shape, and was being sent to Beijing for analysis, the official said.
Indonesia's transportation safety agency has recovered the cockpit voice recorder of Sriwijaya Air flight SJ182, which authorities are hoping contain data that could help them uncover the cause of the crash that occurred in January.
Divers just off the coast of the capital Jakarta hauled the jet's flight data recorder to the surface Tuesday, with the hunt now focused on finding its cockpit voice recorder on the wreckage-littered seabed.
Searching around the clock, about 2,600 rescuers with 13 planes and 53 ships have been deployed, recovering human remains believed to be those of some of the 62 people who were on board Sriwijaya Air Flight SJ182 as well as suspected debris from the aircraft.
