View all search resultsThe Foreign Ministry has briefed envoys from countries that have offered help following the earthquake and tsunami in Central Sulawesi that the Indonesian government will accept assistance in the form of supplies, expertise and equipment but suggested that cash donations be directed to the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI).
The Indonesian government sits down with foreign ambassadors to compile aid requirements for relief efforts in Palu, Sigi and Donggala in Central Sulawesi, as the region reels from the devastation brought on by a 7.4 magnitude earthquake on Friday, with an ensuing tsunami and landslides in remote areas further complicating rescue efforts.
Israel applauded the cutoff of US aid to the United Nations agency that supports millions of Palestinian refugees, saying the organization is “one of the central problems perpetuating” the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Palestinians condemned the move.
Indonesia Aid would coordinate with all existing technical cooperation programs already in place for several developing countries in Africa, Asia and the West Pacific. The new agency will be allotted Rp 1 trillion (US$70 million) to start with.
