View all search resultsLocal governments evacuated some 225,000 people ahead of the arrival overnight of Typhoon Kammuri, known locally as Tisoy, which weakened slightly and picked up speed as it moved across central parts of the archipelago.
Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist Sheila Reyes said that since Kammuri was categorized as a typhoon, its coverage could be vast and that rain and strong winds would likely affect Central and Southern Luzon, including Metro Manila.
