anten's Tangerang administration is continuing to improve facilities along the Cisadane River in a bid to maximize tourism potential.
Initially serving only as a source of clean water and irrigation for paddy fields, the river now hosts jogging tracks and a children's playground along Jl. Benteng Jaya and Jl. Berhias, as well as a flying deck on Jl. Kali Pasir.
Current plans to develop the river include expanding the flying deck to at least 420 meters long, adding more recreational parks and creating a river transportation system.

Other efforts by the city administration to promote tourism include the annual Cisadane festival featuring a dragon boat competition, a collaboration between a marching band and a gambang kromong (Betawi musical ensemble), barongsai dragon dance, silat beksi (a variation of martial art pencak silat), the Nyimas Melati dance, a drama and a photography parade.
"Various events at the Cisadane festival are expected to entertain locals and add economic value as well as attract tourists from inside and outside the country," head of the promotions and destination tourism division of Tangerang Youth and Sports (Dispora), Katrina Iswandari, said on Tuesday as quoted by tempo.co.
According to data from the Banten branch of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), up to 264,960 tourists visited the city last year, of which 27,697 were foreign citizens. (kha/kes)
