welve Indonesian entities are competing for the World Halal Tourism Awards (WHTA) 2016, which will be held as part of the International Travel Week Abu Dhabi 2017. Registrations for participation in 16 categories have been accepted since Sept. 11.

The head of Indonesia’s halal tourism acceleration and development team, Riyanto Sofyan, has announced the entities that will represent the country in several categories:

Sultan Iskandar Muda Airport, Banda Aceh – World’s Best Airport for Halal Travelers

The Rhadana Hotel, Kuta, Bali – World’s Best Family Friendly Hotel

Novotel Lombok Resort & Villas Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara – World’s Best Halal Beach Resort

Ero Tour, Padang, West Sumatra – World’s Best Halal Tour Operator

Lembah Sembalun, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara – World’s Best Halal Honeymoon Destination

ESQ Travel, Jakarta – World’s Best Haj & Umrah Operator

West Sumatra – World’s Best Halal Culinary Destination

Aceh – World’s Best Halal Cultural Destination

Garuda Indonesia – World’s Best Airline for Halal Travelers

Trans Luxury Hotel, Bandung – World’s Most Luxurious Family Friendly Hotel

The voting period is from Oct. 17 to Nov. 25, and the winners will be announced in Abu Dhabi on Dec. 7.

Indonesia won several awards in this competition in 2015. Lombok was named the World’s Best Halal Tourism Destination and World’s Best Halal Honeymoon Destination, and the Sofyan Hotel Group won an award as the World’s Best Family Friendly Hotel.
