Palembang in South Sumatra is set to host Sriwijaya Festival 2017 on Aug. 22-28 at the Kuto Besak Fort.
“The theme is Sriwijaya fashion, art and culture. The fashion show will feature young males and females from regencies across South Sumatra,” said South Sumatra Cultural and Tourism Agency head Irene Camelyn Sinaga.
The festival is said to be the third most popular event in Indonesia.
This year’s theme, maritime commerce, aims to promote South Sumatra as a national priority tourist destination.
“There’s something special for this year’s festival as we're going to promote the Asian Games XVIII by conducting a countdown for the event,” Irene added.
