To commemorate its 189th anniversary, Lebak Regency in Banten is hosting a birthday celebration on Dec. 1-3.

The activities and shows will be located in Pasir Ona Station on Siliwangi – Rangkasbitung street.

The schedule on the first day includes Riung Maungpulung event and the opening of Lebak fair in the afternoon.

“By night there’s going to be Lebak Cultural Festival,” said Lebak Tourism Agency head Hayat Syahida.

Dec. 2 is the official anniversary date of Lebak regency, of which there’s going to be a whole-day celebration featuring marching band performance by IPDN Bandung, Lebak cultural parade and Wayang Ajen performance at night.

The last day of the festivity will start with a special mass dawn prayer at Agung Al-Araf Mosque, followed by Lebak Food Festival, baku ubi cooking festival, Lebak Liuwet Festival and Babacakan Sareung Bupati Lebak.

“There are plenty of tourist attractions in Lebak Regency that we develop and promote to boost Lebak tourism,” said Lebak Regent Iti Octavia Jayabaya.

Among the tourist attractions available are Sawarna Beach, Karang Bokor Beach, Aseupan Beach, Curug Munding and Curug Kebo.

Lebak is also close to Jakarta and Tanjung Lesung, one of the Tourism Ministry’s priority destinations.

For 2017, the regent is aiming to attract at least 500,000 visitors. However, up until November the number has already reached 536,000 people. (kes)
