Gili Trawangan has seen an increase in the number of foreign tourist arrivals from Bali ahead of Nyepi, which falls on March 7 this year.
ince Tuesday, Gili Trawangan in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, has seen an increased number of foreign tourists traveling from Bali with the arrival of 17 high-speed craft (HSC) carrying 1196 passengers. On Monday, the island recorded the arrival of 14 HSC transporting 851 passengers.
The resort island of Bali will shut down for 24 hours on Thursday in observance of Nyepi (Day of Silence).
Warna Beach Hotel & Restaurant general manager Rikardus Jumas told tempo.co that all 16 rooms at the budget hotel on Gili Trawangan were fully booked.
According to Acok Zani Baso, the head of the Gili Trawangan Business Association, the island has around 470 hotels.

I Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar, Bali, will be closed for Nyepi and will reopen at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, March 8.
Bali will essentially shut down from 6 a.m. on Thursday to 6 a.m. on Friday to observe Nyepi, when all access to and from the island is closed and no vehicles are permitted on the streets, except for emergency service. All public facilities will also be closed, and the use of electricity is not permitted for 24 hours. (wng)
