\Ngadiman, the cGo CEO, said the platform was aimed at providing access to everyone to explore Indonesia in an affordable, secure and comfortable manner.

Based on a personal experience when he was stranded during the Lombok earthquake in August 2018, Ngadiman shared that it was almost impossible to find any transportation mode to go to the neighboring island of Bali.

This inspired him, along with other founders, to create an app especially geared toward water transportation.

“We want to create an app that’s safe and comfortable, along with fixed prices,” Ngadiman said, hoping to eliminate the conventional hassle of traditional booking systems. “We hope that with the affordable and honest prices we offer, traveler numbers will rise and in turn Indonesian tourism will flourish.”

Through the app, customers will be able to compare all modes of water transportation and tours to destinations around the country. Real-time rates are expected to help customers in deciding on transportation according to their budgets.

Nora Kassim, cGO managing director and cofounder, said, “We are the first app in Indonesia to offer such a service. There are also customized services created to satisfy customers’ needs.”

In a bid to empower local economies, cGO is collaborating with small and medium enterprises as well as mid-sized tour and travel agents, including Dtour Travel Services, Ancol Marina Port and local and international boat owners.

Ngadiman said cGO aimed to provide access for any activity on the water, including diving and snorkeling. “Also among our plans is to allow customers, for instance, to book cruises worldwide or gondola rides in Venice, Italy. But we will focus on Indonesia first and help to promote the country, as there are places that haven’t been fully explored,” he said.

The Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry has also collaborated with cGO to ease plastic waste pollution in Indonesian waters. The company has pledged to contribute 10 percent of its profits for waste management issues.

The cGO mobile app will be accessible by the end of October in App Store and Google Play-store. (wng)
