The University of Indonesia’s (UI) School of Social and Political Sciences has introduced a distance learning classroom.
The project, titled Distance Learning Project, is a joint effort between UI and Busan University of Foreign Studies (BUFS), South Korea. Research networks Indonesian Research and Education Network (IDREN) and Korea Advanced Research Network (KOREN) support the project.
The classroom provides technologies such as electronic whiteboard systems, digital information display and 3D printers along with their materials. They allow remote classes to have face-to-face meetings through a screen and share a whiteboard that is connected in real-time.

An inauguration for the project was held recently, where a Busan University lecturer gave a lesson in Korean through the screen.
Among the attendees were UI’s School of Social and Political Sciences dean Arie Setiabudi Soesilo, UI chancellor Prof. M. Anis and Busan University representative and Distance Learning Project, Prof. Jeong Bae Lee.
Anis commented through his speech that in the face of Industry 4.0, the latest technologies in the field of communication and information were indispensable, as reported by kompas.com.
"I appreciate the contributions in implementing this facility," said Anis. (iru/kes)
