he world's first fully painted feature film, telling the story of the life and controversial death of troubled 19th century artist Vincent van Gogh, is currently in production and accomplished oil painters are invited to participate.
Titled Loving Vincent, the movie will feature Van Gogh-style paintings in every frame. The plot, which will unfold through the medium of 120 of the artist's greatest works, is said to be based on 800 letters written by Van Gogh himself.
Over 100 painters have reportedly contributed to the film, using specialized work stations, and the production team is still recruiting more artists to join in at its studio in Gdansk, Poland.
According to the movie's official website lovingvincent.com, where an awesome concept trailer can be found, selected painters will be invited to the Gdasnk studio or to one of its subsidiary studios in Wroclaw, Poland or Athens, Greece, for a 3-day audition and, if successful, would undergo a 3-weeks of intensive training to learn to paint in the style of van Gogh and to bring the paintings to animated life.
The movie's directors are Polish painter and director Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman, who has won an Academy Award for producing "Peter and the Wolf". Producing the film are Oscar-winning studios Breakthru Films and Trademark Films. (kes)
