wyneth Paltrow's breakfast smoothie recipe fast became an Internet sensation following reports suggesting that it cost a whopping US$200 to make.
The recipe, shared by the actress on her lifestyle website goop.com, consists of quite unusual ingredients, such as vanilla mushroom protein powder which is said to cost $35 per jar, Ashwagandha at a cost of $17 per jar, and an edible powder called moon dust that sells for $55-$65 per two ounce pot.
Gwyneth, who is said to consume a glass of the smoothie every morning, whether she's detoxing or not, told online magazine Refinery29 that the recipe was the basic version and that people could also add bananas, berries or sweet potato for some variation.
A report by Vanity Fair has clarified for those interested in making the smoothie that they would not, in fact, spend hundreds of dollars each morning, as had been claimed, as the recipe only required a very small amount of the aforementioned ingredients and would thus cost less than $11 per smoothie.
Gwyneth’s morning smoothie is part of goop.com's 7-day detox program for 2016 that aims to help you clean up your daily menu and eat as well as possible with rules that include no gluten, dairy, corn, soy, caffeine, alcohol, added sugar, red meat, shellfish, white rice and nightshades (tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, potatoes). In addition to following the meal plan, people are also encouraged to partake in less-intense exercise such as yoga and walking as well as to spend time in an infrared sauna and drink a lot of water.
