T

he digitalization of the music industry is inevitable. Back in the day, music lovers would flock to music stores to find cassettes or CDs from their favorite musicians. Now, people can download singles or albums onto their computers or smartphones with just a few clicks.

Many musicians have recognized this shift by opting to use digital platforms to distribute their works and making the most of social media tools to promote their activities.

On Wednesday, music companies Musica Studios and Trinity Optima Production, whose artists include Noah, Geisha, Ungu, Naura, Sheryl Sheinafia and Armand Maulana, announced a partnership with online marketplace Blibli.com to launch an official online store.

“The advanced development in the digital industry brings changes to the nation’s music industry. E-commerce is becoming the new platform for musicians to embrace their fans all over Indonesia,” said Blibli.com CEO Kusumo Martanto.

In addition to music, the store will reportedly also sell concert tickets and merchandise.

“People’s lifestyles are changing. It’s true that traditional CD stores are closing, but that’s not the main reason for this agreement. With an online store, we’re more flexible and more creative in selling items, from CDs to concert tickets and even T-shirts, and it’s also available 24 hours,” said Musica Studios’ director Gumilang.

Some products already available in the store include a NOAH CD and book, Armand Maulana's CD single and polo shirt, and an Ungu helmet. (kes)
