The constant movement of coloring a certain pattern and choosing the colors for an object can be therapeutic and increase concentration. Here are our recommendations for five beautiful coloring books you should add to your collection.
Kain Nusantara
Illustrator Yulianto Qin, known for his adult coloring book Batik, has released another book titled Kain Nusantara, which is still in line with the cultural theme. The 64-page book consists of gorgeous patterns from traditional fabrics from different parts of Indonesia.
Hujan Bulan Juni
This coloring book is adapted from renowned poet Sapardi Djoko Damono’s novel of the same name. The Hujan Bulan Juni (Rain in June) novel is famous for its simple words that carry deep meaning. It has been republished in different formats, from a song to a comic in 2013 and a novel in 2015.

Secret Garden: An Inky Treasure Hunt and Colouring Book
Arguably the most famous adult coloring book in the world, Secret Garden: An Inky Treasure Hunt and Colouring Book has been translated into 14 languages and has sold more than a million copies. Originally, the book’s author Johanna Basford was approached to do a children's coloring book but she proposed an adult one after being inspired by some of her clients, who jokingly told her they’d enjoy coloring in her work.
Harry Potter: The Official Coloring Book
For us muggles who can’t get enough of the magical world of the Harry Potter series, this coloring book will help you escape the real world and transport you to Hogwarts. The book is filled with pictures of every Potterhead’s favorite characters and scenes including Dobby, Dumbledore, Quidditch games and the final battle between Harry and Lord Voldemort.
Animorphia: An Extreme Colouring and Search Challenge
This book is created by Philippines-based illustrator Kerby Rosanes who is renowned for the whimsical lines, patterns, characters and little elements in his drawings. As the title suggests, the book is all about illustrations of the animal kingdom, which he fills with quirky little creatures and objects throughout. There’s also a Where’s Waldo kind of challenge where you have to find hidden items in between coloring, but worry not, as the answers are provided at the back of the book. (asw)
