Facebook rolls out 360 photo feature worldwide

Users of Facebook can now upload 360 photos onto their feed, CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced on Friday (June 10).
A 360 photo allows users to explore a 360 view of the scene in the photo by tilting their smart phone or tablet, or by tapping on and dragging the photo.
The 360 photos can be taken with a 360 camera, a 360 camera app or be stitched together using the panorama function on your phone, said Facebook.
Uploading it is no different from uploading a regular photo, according to instructions posted online by Facebook's product manager Andy Huang.
Once posted, they are tagged with a compass icon on the right of the photo.

The launch follows that of Facebook's 360 video feature introduced in September 2015.
Said Zuckerberg in a Facebook post: "Today we're starting to roll out 360 photos worldwide across Facebook. These are similar to 360 videos - you can tilt your phone and feel like you're actually there. You can also check them out in virtual reality for a fully immersive experience."
The virtual reality experience requires a Samsung Gear VR headset and a phone compatible with it, Facebook said.
Zuckerberg has posted two 360 photos on his feed since, one of Manhattan taken from the top of the One World Trade Center, and one from inside the US Supreme Court.
