Sony to make 'Ghostbusters' animated TV series

Filmmaker Ivan Reitman is set to return to the world of Ghostbusters for a new animated TV series.
His burning passion for the Ghostbuster movies apparently have not died down since directing the original 1984 sci-fi comedy and he recently teamed up with Sony Pictures Animation to “creatively spearhead Ghostbusters: Ecto Force,” reported Variety (http://variety.com/2016/film/news/sony-plans-animated-ghostbusters-tv-show-1201799530/).
The first animated Ghostbuster movies aired on ABC in 1986. That time, it was known as The Real Ghostbusters, and ran for seven seasons before being canceled in 1991.

Fans of the original Ghostbusters adventures are expected to warmly welcome this latest expansion plan, having waited for 25 years for an animated revival of the movie.
An official synopsis released by Sony reads, “A brand new animated television series, Ghostbusters: Ecto Force, will further expand the Ghostbusters cinematic universe and focus on a new generation of Ghostbusters in the year 2050 who capture ghosts around the world with help from local teams—and some very cool gear!”
In the mean time, supernatural-comedy-loving audience only have to hang tight for less than another month before the rebooted Ghostbusters movie hits the big screen. Joined by an all-female cast, director Paul Feig takes on the task of living up to Ivan Reitman’s sequel script handed to him and promises to deliver a fresh spin, while keeping essential Ghostbuster elements in the movie.
