s part of celebrations for Independence Day, which falls on Aug. 17, the State Palace is set to organize an exhibition of historical paintings that are normally housed in six palaces across the country.

President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has stated his support for the exhibition as he considers the State Palace to be responsible for preserving the masterpieces. “I want these paintings to be eternal and continuously exhibited to the public worldwide,” he said in a press release on Tuesday.
The paintings were obtained from six presidential palaces in Jakarta, Bogor, Cipanas in West Java, Yogyakarta, and Tampaksiring in Bali. Over 3,000 paintings were included in the curatorial process between 2009 and 2010.
The exhibition will be open to the public and will be held at the National Gallery’s Building A throughout August, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. (kes)
