‘Cursed Child’ is last of Harry Potter franchise, says Rowling

otterheads rejoiced as the latest Harry Potter story rolled out of book stores over the weekend but, sadly, according to author J.K. Rowling, the story of the “Boy Who Lived” has come to an end.
Speaking at the Palace Theatre in London during the premiere of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” Rowling told the press that Harry’s journey in the two-part play has brought his story to a close—to make way for new characters and stories.
When asked if fans could expect a new set of stories based on her latest iteration, she replied, “No. No.”
The 51-year-old novelist explained in an e-online report, “[Harry] goes on a very big journey during these two plays and then, yeah, I think we’re done. This is the next generation, you know. So, I’m thrilled to see it realized so beautifully but, no, Harry is done now.”

Jack Thorne, John Tiffany and Sonia Friedman wrote the script for “Cursed Child,” based on Rowling’s story which focuses on Harry, Hermione, and Ron, along with Harry and Ginny’s son, Albus Severus Potter.
“It chimed perfectly with the material I had about the next generation and I could see it would work perfectly,” said Rowling. “So I never wanted to write another novel, but this will give the fans something special.”
This is not the first time Rowling has said that she’s done writing adult Harry Potter stories, as she also claimed that the franchise’s seventh installment, “Deathly Hallows,” will be Harry’s final foray.
“I think that Harry’s story comes to quite a clear end in Book Seven but I’ve always said that I wouldn’t say ‘never.’ I can’t say I’ll never write another book about that world just because I think what do I know, in ten years time I might want to return to it but I think it’s unlikely, ” she said in a statement in 2007.
“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” Parts 1 & 2 went on sale at midnight on Sunday. It’s predicted to be one of the best-selling books of the year.
