ewly appointed Indonesian Actors Guild (Parfi) chairman Gatot Brajamusti was arrested during a raid at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara, on Sunday night for possession of crystal methamphetamine.
Mataram Police chief AKBP Heri Prihanto told a press conference on Monday morning that Gatot was arrested in a hotel room at 11:30 p.m. local time. “We found two packets of crystal methamphetamine and a suction device,” he said.
Four other people were inside the room at the time of arrest, including Gatot’s wife, Dewi Aminah. They remain under investigation at the Mataram Police office.
"During the arrest, they were not using [the crystal meth], but were still detained due to the possession of drugs, thus the current presumption is ownership. We are still conducting urine tests to determine whether they also used it or not," said Heri, adding that the police had 72 hours to decide on the status of the four.

Parfi public relations representative Ozzy Sulaiman said the case against Gatot was still unclear. He added that he was not convinced Gatot was really in possession of crystal meth, and believed the whole scenario was a setup.
“We just finished the Parfi congress and prior to this, we also received a threat via SMS saying Gatot would be dealing with the cops. We are certain he’s being framed in this case,” he said.
Ozzy also said that during the congress, the room in which Gatot was apprehended was open and anybody could have entered. “I am sure [the drugs] were not Gatot’s because anyone could go in and out of that room freely. And prior to the raid, Gatot was still with us and some other artists outside the room.”
Ozzy expressed his wish for police professionalism in handling the case.
The 15th Parfi congress was held at the hotel on Aug. 26 to 28. Gatot, the incumbent, was appointed as 2016-2021 chairman with 464 votes, beating contender Andrey da Silva with 78 votes, on Saturday night. (asw/kes)
