he world-renowned Vienna Boys' Choir is set to perform commercially in Indonesia for the first time as part of its Asian tour on Oct. 15-16 in Ciputra Artpreneur Theater in Kuningan, South Jakarta.
Ciputra Artpreneur president director Rina Ciputra Sastrawinata said the event aimed to bring "educational and highly professional" entertainment to Indonesian audiences. "I'm optimistic that this opportunity will be useful for us all to see that we too can have a career in singing," she said. "I hope that gradually, a career as musicians, in this case as singers, can be an alternative as a full-time profession in Indonesia."

The group that will perform in October is a part of the Vienna Choir Boys' four touring groups, which consists of 25 boys the oldest of whom is 14 years old.
Under the lead of Italian choirmaster Manolo Cagnin, the choir is expected to perform 22 songs per show with a repertoire including classical compositions by Vivaldi, Schubert, Rossini and Strauss, as well as pop songs. According to the organizer, the group is currently considering performing Indonesian folk songs as well.
Tickets for the show are available starting from Rp 750,000 (US$57.32). (kes)
