As reported by Recode, neither Google nor Apple had placed a bid, while Disney had also recently backed out from purchasing the social media platform.

Disney was previously said to be the most suitable candidate as its CEO Bob Iger is a friend of Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, and Dorsey is already a member of Disney's board. The acquisition will also increase Disney's opportunity to distribute its content.
San Francisco-based cloud computing company Salesforce is now regarded as the most likely potential buyer, despite no official confirmation having been made. (kes)
