ans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe or British actor Benedict Cumberbatch may rejoice as the upcoming movie Doctor Strange, slated to premiere at local theaters in late October, will also be shown on IMAX 3D screens.
Selected clips from the movie were shown to a limited audience to give them a glimpse of what the premium large format screen has to offer, as it takes viewers on adventures in both the real and a mystical world.
“As a movie enthusiast, I am very excited to take the audience on a visual journey of Doctor Strange and show new scenes through this exclusive screening, which will be broadcasted simultaneously in several countries,” said director Scott Derrickson, who previously helmed horror films like Sinister (2012) and The Exorcism of Emily Rose (2005).

The story of Doctor Strange follows an arrogant surgeon-turned-sorcerer, Doctor Stephen Strange, who suffers an accident that disables his hands but changes his life forever. His journey brings him to the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton), who becomes his mentor.
Cumberbatch's character is portrayed as mildly funny, resulting in a lighter and more enjoyable story – though no one actually laughs. Unlike the Avengers who protect the physical world, Doctor Strange becomes the defender of a mystical world inhabited by countless enemies, such as Kaecilius (Mads Mikkelsen), who causes the doctor great distress.
The cast includes other renowned actors like Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Michael Stuhlbarg and Benedict Wong. (kes)
