irtual reality (VR) headsets for PCs may not be readily available here yet, but you can prepare for the new gaming technology by buying a powerful VR-ready laptop from Alienware.
The gaming hardware maker showed off a slew of new laptops that can handle VR game titles, along with the latest games. This is because they are equipped with Nvidia's 10-Series graphics chips that offer desktop-class performance in a notebook form factor.
The flagship Alienware 17 has a new keyboard that features RGB LED backlighting and offers good key travel of around 2.2mm. The laptop also uses an eye-tracking technology from Tobii that records your gaze pattern during gaming sessions. These recordings can then be used as a coaching tool to improve your gaming performance.
The Alienware 17 will be available at Dell.com.sg at the end of the month at a starting price of $3,999.
The thinner and more portable Alienware 15 comes with an anti-glare full high-definition (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) display. Gamers can opt for a screen with Nvidia G-Sync technology for smooth, lag-free gaming performance, or an ultra-high-definition display for 4K (3,840 X 2,160 pixels) gaming.

The Alienware 15 will be available at the end of October from $2,399 at the Dell website.
Also showcased at the event were the latest computers from Dell, all of which are available now. They include the refreshed XPS 13 ultrabook, now powered by a new seventh-generation Intel Core processor. Prices start at $1,899.
Those who still need an optical drive in their laptops can check out the Inspiron 15 5000, which comes with the latest Intel Core processors, optional graphics cards and a thinner design. The Inspiron 15 5000 is priced from $749 for an Intel Core i3 CPU.
Dell also has a budget gaming laptop in the form of the $1,899 Inspiron 15 7000. It has a GeForce GTX 960M graphics chip that can run the latest games at modest settings.
The Dell XPS Tower is intended for intensive applications such as video editing. It can be configured with up to 64GB system memory and quad-core Intel Core i7 processors. Prices start at $1,049 for the base Intel Core i5 version.
