nline marketplace Tokopedia has been sharing coding knowledge to its office boys for the last two months with positive results, says the company's COO, Leontinus Alpha Edison.
"Everyone can learn how to code," said Leon in a press release. "Our IT team has been intensively teaching code to our office boys and the result has been positive. Their enthusiasm is also very high."
The activity is part of Tokopedia's Nakama Learning Class program where each Nakama, the nickname for a company employee, is encouraged to share their knowledge before or after office hours to other Nakamas.

"So far we have had classes on Japanese and Arabic languages, make-up, guitar, yoga, and most recently, coding," said Leon, adding that all employees were allowed to join the classes, including office boys.
In the first half of this year, Tokopedia was named the company with the best work culture by online jobseeker platform Jobplanet. The company currently attracts more than 50,000 applicants, while only able to recruit around 20 new employees each intake. (mra/kes)
