rom a sequel, true-story drama, book adaptation and reboot—here are some trailers you have to watch before going to cinema in 2017.
The Mummy
Tired of seeing another The Mummy rerun on TV? The franchise is being rebooted with better CGI, set to premiere on 2017. Starring Tom Cruise, the early part of the trailer is more Mission Impossible than The Mummy, but we still get to see juicy part of the horror flick we all both love and hate.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2
There are two reasons to watch another Guardians of the Galaxy movie: first, Grood and second, the music. The trailer steals our hearts (and money), promising another light-hearted, jokes-loaded, action-packed Marvel superhero movie. However, it looks like the movie will take some time to develop the relationship between Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and Gamora (Zoe Zaldana) and the changing dynamic between Rocket (Bradley Cooper) and now-baby Groot (Vin Diesel).
The Founder
It's a movie with both McDonald's and Michael Keaton, what else do we need? Based on a true story, Michael Keaton plays Ray Kroc, the man who turns a simple burger joint into an empire. The movie was directed by John Lee Hancock, whose previous work, Saving Mr. Bank, also tells the story of another franchise's founder.

The Circle
We have seen dystopian-novel adaptation franchise dying with The Hunger Games and Divergent, whose last part did not even get to see the light of day in the cinema. On the surface, The Circle is another a bland-girl-turn-chosen-one living in an Orwellian world trope, adapted from a novel by Dave Eggers, which can be a turn off for some people. But hey, at least the movie will have Tom Hanks and Emma Watson.
Silence
Yes, it's Andrew Garfield vs. the Japanese again, but Silence will not be another Hacksaw Ridge. Martin Scorsese's latest work, adapted from a 1966 novel by Shūsaku Endō, will take us back to 17th century Japan, while focusing on two Portuguese Jesuit priests (Andrew Garfield and Adam Driver). The trailer shows us a glimpse of the movie's beautiful cinematography, as well as the solid cast that includes Liam Neeson, among others.
Spiderman: Homecoming
The newest Spiderman reboot trailer is here, and it looks like the movie will not spend too much time on the original story (because who doesn't know it already?). Tom Holland looks very convincing as high schooler Peter Parker, at least much more so than his predecessors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. Tony Sparks (Robert Downey Jr.), aka Iron Man, will make an appearance as a not-so-fatherly figure to guide the new Spiderman through the superhero world. (kes)
