bout half of Harley-Davidson moge (big motorcycle) owners are said to initially have only been able to buy the brand's merchandise. 

"According to the latest global data of Harley-Davidson, 47 percent of consumers were buyers of the brand's merchandises before they could purchase a motorcycle," said Dewa Made Wirya Atmaja, the general manager of Nusantara Harley-Davidson of Jakarta, the brand's authorized dealer in the capital city, as quoted by kompas.com on Thursday.

"Visitors who come to the dealer don't always have intentions to buy a motorcycle. They tend to purchase smaller items first," said Dewa.

He added that 11 percent of visitors who conduct test rides end up buying the motorcycle.

In Indonesia, the price of a Harley-Davidson moge is similar to a luxury car with a starting price of Rp 300 million (US$22,538) to approximately Rp 1 billion.

After a 10-month hiatus, the brand came back to Indonesia following the inauguration of Nusantara Harley-Davidson of Jakarta. The dealer currently offers four motorcycle models, namely Softail Slim S for Rp 994.2 million, Softail Fat Boy for Rp 866 million, Sportster Forty-Eight for Rp 635.7 million and Street 500 for Rp 308.6 million.
