ree and open-source web browser Firefox will stop supporting Windows XP and Windows Vista operating systems by the end of September 2017.
As reported by kompas.com on Tuesday, the company announced that users of both platforms would still be able to operate the browser but Mozilla as Firefox creator will no longer release software updates to patch up any security holes. This means users of the old operating systems will be more vulnerable to attacks from malware or hackers.

"We highly recommend that users upgrade their Windows to a version that is still supported by Microsoft," wrote Mozilla on its official blog.
The company is said to release an Extended Support Release of Firefox in March 2017. Users of XP and Vista will automatically be transferred to this version.
In April, Google also ended its support for the Chrome browser on XP, Vista, Mac OS X 10.6, 10.7 and 10.8. (kes)
