s we bid farewell to 2016, the gaming scene keeps moving on to the next big thing. Japanese developers dominate the list of the titles ready to lure gamers in January 2017.

Below are the top five games being released in the first month of 2017 that are worth keeping an eye out for, as compiled by dailysocial.id.

Gravity Rush 2

Release date: Jan. 20

Consoles: PlayStation 4

Kat and Raven are set to return in the second episode of this action adventure game from SIE Japan Studio. Still focusing on gravity manipulation gameplay, Gravity Rush 2 will present triple the number of levels with a 2.5-times wider game map compared to its predecessor. It is said that gamers will need at least 20-40 hours to be able to finish it. It will also introduce two new gravitation styles: Lunar (which makes Kat move faster) and Jupiter (which makes the attack heavier).

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard

Release date: Jan. 24

Consoles: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One

Determined to refresh the pride and joy of its horror survival franchise, Capcom reportedly took a new direction in presenting Resident Evil 7. The upcoming game is said to be the first Resident Evil game with a first-person perspective and which supports full PlayStation VR virtual reality mode. The action element will still be around, but the developer will avoid it being just another shooting game. Players will be challenged to manage their ammunition and make decisions to avoid battle.

Yakuza 0

Release date: Jan. 24

Consoles: PlayStation 4

After being released for a limited market in Japan in March, Yakuza 0 will finally be introduced to the world starting January. This open world game is a prequel of the Yakuza series, which will bring gamers to the fictional district of Kabukicho, the Shinjuku Golden Gai and Sotenbori areas in 1988. During its initial release, it was the most sought after game in Japan for one week and received high scores from reviewers.

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue

Release date: Jan. 24

Consoles: PlayStation 4

As part of Kingdom Hearts’ remastered games  collection, Final Chapter Prologue features the high-definition version of Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, plus cinematic content of Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover and Kingdom Hearts 0.2: Birth by Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage – a new game that is set after the end of Birth of Sleep with Aqua as the protagonist character.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3

Release date: Jan. 27

Consoles: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One

Ghost Warrior 3 is the first game in this CI Games series that is being handled like a blockbuster title. Similar to its previous two games, Sniper will present tactical shooter gameplay combined with open world formula with three main principles: target identification, execution and survival. Designed to be as realistic as possible, the creation of this game involved war veteran Paul B. Robinson, thus gamers can expect to feel like they are using a real sniper’s rifle while playing.
