Scientists and doctors from the United States believe that cold water can improve the condition of one’s skin.
Jessie Cheung, a dermatologist from Chicago, has said cold water can help to flatten ruffled cuticles, moisturize skin and tighten pores and reduce swelling.
She also said cold water could boost blood circulation.
According to the International Journal of Circumpolar Health, swimming regularly four times a week in cold water helps to increase overall energy and health.

As reported by Antara news agency, the 2007 Journal of Medical Hypotheses states that taking a cold shower for around two to three minutes can help reduce depression. However, a deeper study is required to further prove the finding, researchers say.
Contrary to taking cold showers, Lance Brown, a dermatologist from New York, has stated that warm showers will make the skin dry and itchy.
It may also worsen the skin’s condition by exacerbating eczema. This is because warm water will scrape off the skin’s protecting oil. This is especially true, he added, in winter, when the weather is cold outside. The dry heat inside makes the skin dehydrated. (mas/asw)
