US toy manufacturer Mattel has developed a smart baby monitor to help parents with taking care of their children.
Set to launch this summer for US$299, Aristotle has a camera and a speaker and is able to “interact” with children. According to dailysocial.id, the device is empowered with three different artificial intelligence features, such as Microsoft Cognitive Services and the Silk Intelligence Platform, and can recognize children based on their voice.
The device’s functions include helping to soothe crying babies, purchasing diapers or finding online deals and helping children learn languages.

“Our goal with the launch of Aristotle is to provide parents with a platform that simplifies parenting, while helping them nurture, teach and protect their young ones,” Mattel's vice president and Nabi division general manager, Jim Mitchell, said in a press release.
With several versions available, the device is also designed to grow alongside children and follow their changing needs. Aristotle baby, for example, is able to help parents keep track of their babies’ development. Aristotle toddler can help children learn the alphabet, numbers and stories. Aristotle kid can assist children in doing their homework and provides an entertainment unit. Meanwhile, Aristotle tween will offer more sophisticated learning capabilities, such as foreign language lessons. (wir/kes)
