Instagram has amped things up by upgrading its ‘Stories’ feature to ‘Live Stories’.
At the same time, the photo-sharing app has made the feature available to users worldwide, after it was previously only available in the US.
The Facebook-owned application released an announcement on its blog saying the feature would expand to users globally this week. The feature is said to offer endless possibilities for shooting live videos through the app, “from real-time makeup tutorials to live DJ sets”, that can now be enjoyed by people across the globe.

To access the feature, users will be required to update the Instagram app on their mobile devices to version 10.0 or newer. Then, all that is left to be done is to open the app, swipe right from the home page or tap the icon in the top left corner; and lastly, just swipe right and tap on “Start Live Video”. Users will be able to see comments and likes from viewers as their live videos stream. The video, however, can only be viewed for as long as it is being broadcast.
Instagramers can also expand their insta-horizons by seeing what other people are recording through the ‘Explore’ tab and pressing on the magnifying glass below the page. Trending live videos will be laid out in a row with mini-labels that read “Live”. (nik/kes)
