Filmmaker Riri Riza has revealed his plan to create a film on the life story of renowned Indonesian poet Chairil Anwar.
“Actually, we have a plan [to make a movie about ] Chairil Anwar,” he said as quoted by kompas.com on the sidelines of the premier of Malaysian film Interchange at the XXI Epicentrum cinema in South Jakarta on Thursday.
Riri refused to describe the film as a biopic, saying that he preferred to call it a film that told the life story of the poet.
“It’s not a biographical film, but a life story,” he said.

Chairil Anwar died in 1949 at the age of 27. He wrote 70 poems on rebellion, death, individualism and existentialism.
